First Verifier Training Course Completed

Thirteen of our verifiers came to Hampton Court for the first Verifier Training course. We covered issues and pressures faced by our clients, the importance of considering the contestants, what makes a good source and how to verify Q&A and MC style questions.

We also launched the ‘Neg-Check Spot Of The Month’ award that will be given to the person who makes the best spot when neg-checking  a question. The first one went to Karen Carman who spotted that one of the Titanic’s sisters ships had once been called the Gigantic – saving an error on a multiple choice question. A special award went to Sharon Knight who was given the task of checking a photograph and spotted that the picture of a spacecraft was in fact three space craft all joined together.

Nice work, ladies!

The day went really well and has inspired a few new ways of working and the establishment of a secret Facebook group for team members to use to keep in contact and to be told when questions are in for checking.

Next week, the handbooks will be sent out to all Fact Controllers.
